MUNTINLUPA’S E-JEEPNEY PROGRAM
Muntinlupa City is a leader in promoting alternative energy to transform a cultural icon and the primary mode of public land transportation in the Philippines, the jeepney.
In October 2016, Muntinlupa City was awarded by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines as the Electric Jeepney Capital of the Philippines for having numerous units and contributing to the reduction of air and noise pollution in the country.
A partnership between the local city government and Lingkod Muntinlupa Foundation (LMF), a non-stock non-profit organization, the e-Jeepneys were created to help address the growing need for a sustainable, environment-friendly transport solution in the booming city of Muntinlupa. Riding the e-Jeepneys are free as it is a benefit of cardholders of the Muntinlupa Care Card, the benefit card of the city government.
