Tailoring a better future with TAHI

Tahi is a Filipino word meaning "to sew". It is a collaboration between the City Government of Muntinlupa and Lingkod Muntinlupa Foundation (LMF)  to provide livelihood to communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We work with local artisans in Muntinlupa to produce uniforms, clothes and other sewn garments.

Our Story

Tahi by Likhang Munti is a partnership between the City Government of Muntinlupa and Lingkod Muntinlupa Foundation (LMF) to provide employment for displaced workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the program, local tailors and seamstresses from low-income families are tapped to produce quality sewn products that are proudly made in Muntinlupa. They are housewives, single parents, former OFWs who used to live along the railways before being relocated to Southville 3 in Brgy. Poblacion.

The Muntinlupa City Technical Institute (MCTI) provided the sewing machines, while LMF, through its donors, provided the funding and served as a bridge to companies who might need custom uniforms, clothes and other garments.

At present, Tahi sewers are working on more than a thousand uniforms ordered by three different companies in Muntinlupa.

Tahi by Likhang Munti started its operations in April when the effects of the pandemic were progressively felt—businesses were closed, Muntinlupeños lost jobs, and the demand for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in hospitals within Muntinlupa was high.

Due to shortage in suppliers at the height of the enhanced community quarantine, LMF collaborated with the City to use the sewing machines in Muntinlupa City Technical Institute (MCTI) and tap local sewers for the production of more than 2,300 sets of PPE, which were donated to Ospital ng Muntinlupa.

Tahi by Likhang Munti continues to empower the community by providing decent jobs and opening doors of opportunities for Muntinlupeños to showcase quality homegrown products that can compete with the rest of the world.
